Definition of BLOG?

It's been brought to my attention that some of you out there in blog land thinks I am a Diva! Of course we would have to know what the slang definition of Diva was before we could figure out what they were talking about! They think my blog is all about me, that I am self promoting! Well to start with, I thought that's what a blog was, a personal account of things that were going on in our life. Sorta like a public diary! Maybe I have the wrong concept of what a blog is supposed to be! Would anyone like to enlighten me? The second thing is, I would love to have things to blog about like my sweet friend Theresa at Garden Antiques, but there aren't any interesting shops in my part of the woods to promote. So if I can't write about myself, what else is there to write about? Does anyone have the real definition of BLOG?

I have never thought of my self as a Diva! I'm just a country girl that was fortunate enough to get a few breaks in my favor! But I am curious to know what you guys think!

Booth Pictures

It always amazes me how you can take a blank slant and make it come to life. I love my booth and I hope it does well. The people in Shelbyville are so nice. Jane the mall owner is great to work with. The mall next door, The Ruby Rooster is filled to the brim with cool stuff, and Glenda the mall owner is so sweet!

I pulled several things out of the green room at the house to put in the booth, so if you see something familiar that's why. Hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed decorating!

New Booth

Saturday Craig and I moved into a new mall in Shelbyville, Ky. Shelbyville Antique Market, it opened Nov. 08, so it's not real full yet. The mall owner is a cousin of Shawn's of the European Antique Market.

We are really excited about being there. The whole town is full of antique malls and shops. A great place to shop for antiques. If you live close you should make plans to visit.

My booth is only 9 x 8, so it is very small. I did manage to pack it full, but guess what, I forgot to take pictures of the finished product! I am going back up there tomorrow so I will take pictures and post them. Stay tuned.................!

My Bedroom

When I was looking at blogs the other day I was on Zita's blog
Mlle Magpie and she had pictures of all her lovely chandeliers. I ask her if I could do a post on my chandeliers and give her credit for the idea, she said yes! If you haven't been to her blog go check it out she has some great junk! Her chandeliers are so much prettier than mine.
Sorry for all the dark pictures, we haven't seen the sun here in about 2 weeks, I'm so ready for spring! I don't have pictures of all the chandeliers, it was to dark in some of the rooms to take pictures!
If you click on pictures to make them larger you will probably see some cobwebs! Oh my!

This is probably my favorite light fixture! It's in my bathroom.
I know the picture is really dark, sorry!
This is in my bathroom as well.

Second bath.

Nominated times 3

It's the "Proximidade" award. This award focuses not on the glory and fanfare of blogging, but in the PROXIMITY to one another through this on-line world (kind of a Six Degrees of Separation sort of thing)."Blogs who receive this award are 'exceedingly charming' say its authors. This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."
This award has been bestowed on me by three lovely bloggers!
I have met so many great bloggers it is getting difficult to select only 8 blogs that inspire me. I think at one time or another all blogs inspire me in some shape, form or fashion. A couple of days ago my Internet was out for 24 hours, I thought I would go nuts! Not being able to connect with the outside world to see what was going on with each and every one of you was madding! I guess I am so addicted to blogging it's ridiculous! It brings so much joy to my life and it is FREE! That being said, I nominate every one on my blog role, and I'm sure there are some out there that are not on my blog role that deserve to be!

Thanks again for the Nominations

Longing to do a show!

Brimfield May 2008

I have cabin fever so bad and would love to go set up at a show! I miss the show biz so much! I guess it's in my blood and I'm not sure how to cure it. We won't be doing another show until the spring show in Texas. Buddy let me tell you, we will be first on board when this economy turns around to start doing shows again!
Although it's the hardest work in the world, it's the best rewarding and fulfilling work I have ever done. You have the to ability to be creative in a big way and make money at the same time? SWEET!

Coffee, Tea for Me

Anyone who knows me very well knows I love coffee! As a matter of fact I have at least 3 cups of coffee to get my day started. Sometimes I have a cup around 3:00 in the afternoon, then after supper we always make a pot of Decaf. I love the taste of coffee, I drink it black and strong, none of the wussy coffee with sugar and cream in it!

For years I have had a Bunn coffee maker, those things last about 6 or 7 years. Well mine was on it's last leg, so my son told me he would buy me one for Christmas. We didn't have time to shop for one while he was here, but I knew I was going to jump ship and buy a different brand this time. I wanted one that had this neat spigot that dispenses hot water. I always drink a lot of hot tea in the winter as well.

I had spotted this model at Dine a restaurant supply store. It's a Waring Pro, it's actually a commercial brand and has a second burner and pot. I think a second pot would be great for entertaining.

I love being able to dispense hot water any time I want for tea or hot chocolate!

Double Wides Rock

Photo: High Desrt Diva

I came across a blog the other day called High Desert Diva. As I was wondering through her post I realized she lives in a Double Wide! You have to go check out the amazing before and after pictures in the sidebar of her blog, it's amazing!

Of course Double Wide peaked my interest right off the bat, since my Junk Palace is a double wide as well! I guess most people deem me as Trailer Park Trash! Do you think I care? HELL NO, I have exactly what I want and no mortgage! Best part is I can do anything in the world to this place and it only gets better! Oh, and Country Living loved it enough to put it in their magazine! Which I am very proud of! I know it's not nice to be proud, but I would have never dreamed I would be in a magazine. It was a once in a life time experience that I will never forget!

Mirror, mirror on the wall!

I love mirrors and the way they reflect light. I like to play with the camera to see what I can catch in the mirror. I love the texture in front of the mirror and I like the reflection in the mirror.

80 And It's My First Birthday Party

I would love for you to meet my friend Ginny. She is a soft spoken happy go lucky person. She is very sweet and she laughs all the time. I met Ginny a couple of years ago when I was doing business with her husband Bob. We spoke and said hello to each other, but it ended there. Over the coarse of two years each time I seen her our conversations got a little longer. Then back in October Ginny told me her heart wrenching life story!

In 1935, her father left her mother and three children, they were devastated! She said her mother worked what jobs she could find, but she had to pay someone to watch her 3 children. The youngest was 5, Ginny was 6 and her brother was 7. Her mother paid someone $1 a day to watch them. By the time rent and utilities were paid there was nothing left over for food. She said her mother struggled for two years. Then in 1937 after the great flood Ginny's mother made the decision to put the children in an orphanage.

Ginny was 8 years old, she said she cried day and night for two solid weeks and would not eat a bit of food. The orphanage called her mother to come pick her up. She said it was one of the happiest days of her life. But it was short lived, her mother kept her for about two months but just didn't have the money to feed her. So back to the orphanage Ginny went. She lived out the rest of her days at the orphanage until she became an adult. She said they worked every day at the orphanage doing all the chores that needed to be done. Every month they changed jobs. The children at the orphanage went to public school, but were shunned by all the other students.

When Ginny became an adult and left the orphanage, she said she had one skirt, one shirt, one pair of shoes, two pairs of panties and two pairs of socks. She said she was determined to make something out of herself and show the world she was not a piece of trash! Her very words! She retired after 30 years working for The Federal Reserve Bank.

The part of the story that stuck in my mind the most, was the fact that she had never had a Birthday Party in her life!! She said when she and her brothers were in the orphanage and it was their birthday, they would stand at the window hoping to see their mother. As night fell they realize she was not coming and they would cry their self to sleep! I am crying as I write this because I can imagine the loneliness and disappointment these poor children must have felt!

Not having any children of her own, I decided I would do everything in my power to give a her a birthday she could remember. So yesterday Craig and I went to see Ginny and Bob, and we had a small birthday party for her. I wish you could have seen the look on her face! And yes she cried! She told me no one had ever done anything like this for her! She ask me why I would do such a thing and I told her that she had touched my heart in a special way and I could not forget her story.

Sometimes I forget how blessed I was as a child. We were poor but my mother always made our birthdays as special as she could.

Happy 80th Birthday Ginny!
Isn't she a doll?
