Bad Show-Bad Pictures

When we arrived at the show on Friday as soon as we walked in my heart dropped! I looked at Craig and he looked at me, right then and there we decided we had walked into the Senior Citizen Wing of the Flea Market! The only thing we could see was blue hair and dishes. I was so disappointed because I know what kind of crowd these booths attract! And boy was I right! The shoppers were (75%) over the age of 70! You know as well as I do those people don't buy anything! They don't need anything! The first thing they would say, Oh we aren't here to buy, we just want to look! Well, lookin don't pay the bills!
Then as you can see by the pictures I clearly don't have a clue how to use my new camera! I need to read the book and figure out how to lighten the back ground. I tried to lighten things up, but I couldn't make it work right. Sorry the pictures are awful.

This is the only big piece of furniture I sold, and the lady said she was going to strip it!!!

Craig's bench turn out great! One of the best he has ever made, I would like to keep it for myself, but I don't have anywhere to put it! Oh, I forgot I did sell these night stands also.

Friday and Sunday Junkin

Craig and I went on a shopping trip on Friday! I think I hit the jackpot on white dishes (77 piece set)and white accessories. I just can't get enough white stuff. This is all strung out in my sun room on a wallpaper table waiting to be repriced and toted up for the next show.
I know you can't tell much about all this stuff, I didn't have the energy to make it look pretty. Now I wish someone would come scrape off all price tags and reprice everything for me!

I thought this chandelier was unusual! Kind of looks like a hot air balloon. There's Craigy-poo!

Anybody need a school desk! I hate these things, but I thought they looked cool lined up together. No! I did not buy them!

And last but not least this is the best PICKER in the world, Gary Perkins. I have been buying from him for 16 years. For the last 4 years I have gone to his house every Sunday morning come rain or shine to look at his loot! He comes up with some of the coolest stuff. Thank you Gary!

New Camera

I finally got a new camera yesterday. It is a little complicated to operate, but I think I can figure it out. Wasn't planning to buy just yet, but I went to Walmart and they had all their Digital Cameras marked down. I guess they are getting ready for the new models for Christmas. But boy did I get a deal! It's a Sony DSC-H2 Cyber-shot, 6.0 mega pixels, 12x optical zoom, retail $399, on sale $170. Needles to say I couldn't pass is up. So far I really like it, took some close up shots around the house this morning, hope you enjoy.

Sorry about the glare on the clock face, there is a button for this I just don't have it mastered yet, give me couple of 100 pics and I sure I'll get it right. Oh and by the way, the pic inside the clock face is me, my dad and my grandfather fishing in Florida, several years ago, probably about 40 years or more. We caught some huge fish that day!

I love clocks, clock faces, alabaster, coral and lets not forget books.

Not sure what this little stage coach was used for, but it's cute!

Some tiny shoes, head vase and of course butter pats.
Hope you guys enjoy some of the tiny vignettes from around my house.

Is it Kooter or Cooter?

It has been brought to my attention that Kooter is spelled with a C in other parts of the country! But for the description of what I used the word for its spelled with a K! WELL...I looked it up in the dictionary and its not even listed with a K or a C with a reference to what I was talking about, spell check doesn't even have it listed with a C! I guess I will have to contact Webster so we can have it entered as a new word for the next printing! Just let me know your vote on the K or the C? What will it be?

Meet Spencer

Doin what dogs do best NOTHIN!! Must be nice, sometimes I would love to lay around the house! Who has time for that? Spencer was born on April 9, 2008. He is a Dachshund and he is a mess! He wants to chew on everything, we can't keep enough chewies in the house for him. I got him when we got back from Texas in the spring and I named him after my grandfather that had just passed away on his birthday (of all days) March 25th.

Who could resist this NOSE!! Short, short legs and hugh paws, when he runs through the house it sounds like a horse. This is his favorite bed, actually a bean bag from Target, one of Rachel Ashwells. Good thing about it the cover comes off to wash.

I'm sure Spencer will make more appearances in the future!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

You know how it is when you use something everyday it becomes a part of you. Like soap! But what I failed to realize is that I need to share the source of my favorite soap. Keep in mind that I have very bad skin, I have red patches all over my face and everything breaks me out, and I am very sensitive in the female area! By the way, which my girls and I refer to as our kooter!! Well...when I went to Iowa to meet my sweet freind Sharon of Sweet Repose she hooked me up with some of her homemade glycerin soap. Well friends the rest is history, I will never use any other soap in the world as long as I can get this soap from her! When I try something new if it can pass the FACE and the KOOTER test its a winner! And the scents are wonderful, all kinds but to many for me to remember, ask Sharon!
So if I were you I would go to her blog and check her out, she is saved in my look at this column. SWEET REPOSE you won't be sorry!! Be sure and read some of her poetry, she is a talented writer.

Iowa Dresser

I thought you guys might want to see this chest I bought in Iowa. I'm not sure of its origin, but it is a very well made piece. All the drawer bottoms and the back are chamfered, narrow dovetailed drawers and the over all curves of this piece made it irresistible! I knew as soon as I seen it I had to have it for my house, wasn't sure where I would put it, but I knew I could find it a home! Believe it or not, the mirror was already there, didn't even have to move it!

It even has a hidden compartment, which I think is very cool, not that I have anything worth hiding, but it makes your imagination run wild! Can you imagine living a country where you had to hide valuable papers or money?

The carved wood details one the sides are so elegant. I'm sure this piecs will stay with me for a while. Off course I had to get rid of another piece to make it fit, but thats one of the reasons I'm in this business!

Brimfield Pics

Here are a few pics of my booth in Brimfield. We had a great show and I'm thankful for everything we sold, given the fact the the economy is so bad. We have a few loyal customers that buy from us, and several shoppers that do showrooms in New York City. All in all is was a great show and I'm hoping we can do it again the spring.

I love stacks of suitcase's, these went to a good friend who sells clothing, pillows, bedspreads and lots of cool stuff, Cathy of Vintage Girl. I got some new duds and she took the whole stack of cases. Thanks Cathy!

This cupboard was one of only two that I brought home with me, it will be making a trip to Marburger for the fall show in Texas. That is one of Craigs Angel light fixtures on top of the cupboard.

Another view of the Jelly Cupboard with the doors closed. Garden table and chairs
(out of my house) went to Martha's Vineyard.

A great bench, and some other cool stuff.

This wonderful metal bread shelf is going to a Ralph Lauran showroom in New York City. Those guys know cool stuff when they see it!

This is one of Craigs benches and zinc top tables that he makes. He does such a good job and yes, they both sold to a decorator for her own home.

Rachel Ashwell took this neat cupboard and white trunk back to CA. with her.

I love the coffee dyed lace, looks good against the white tent. This little table base with four drawers is going to China!

Didn't sell much of this gold stuff, it's ok, but I don't really like it that much.
Old tarnish silver, can you ever have enough of that stuff? Not me, I think it is great to decorate with.

More suit cases.

And this wonderful cupboard is also going with Rachel Ashwell to her store! Thanks Rachel!

Iowa or bust

This is me crying, cause Barb has all my money in her pocket! Well I guess it's OK, cause I got some really great stuff! Thanks Barb! And THANK YOU Sharon of Sweet Repose, should I tell you her nick name? (Ma.....Nut) If it weren't for Sharon I would never have known about Barb at Sisters Garden and Bloom. It is one of the best shops I have ever been in. What a pleasure to shop in a store that has something you actually want to look at and BUY! Barb is a very talented, she has a good eye for what to buy and how to put it all together! Sharon's, daughters shop is great also, but like a dumb ass I did not take pictures. I was so excited when I was at Sisters I didn't know what to look at next! I loved all of Barbs ideas and will steal
some of them for myself!!! Such talent, makes me want to weep cause I can't go there every week to check it out. Although....I would be in the poor house it I lived near there!
Barb has the same affection I have for crusty, rusty, crackled, stained castoffs. If you ever get a chance to go to her store you will never be the same again. And let me tell you about Ma....Nut, she makes the most wonderful soap I have ever used, and her soy candles are to die for! The one I am burning today is called BUTT NAKED! My son wanted to know how she figured out what the smell of butt naked was like? I told him if he met her he would understand! I can't wait until I can go back to Iowa! It is officially my favorite shopping place now. The country side is amazing, I was shocked that looking at farm land for as far as the eye could see would be entertaining to me. I am so glad we were able to go there on a Junkin Safari!

Brimfield Pics

We had a great show in Brimfield. I wasn't sure if people would be out buying since gas is so expensive! Lets face it we don't have anything anybody really needs to get through their everyday life. Unless of course they are all JUNKies like me! I think I would lose my mind if I couldn't shop for junk at least once a month. I do shop more than once a month, and sometimes more than once a week! Junk shopping feeds my soul, and the real REWARD comes when you get to take all that junk and put it in a pile and create a wonderful display! Its amazing how you can buy junk from 20 different places and it all winds up looking great together. We also rescue a lot of rotted, broken, ugly, unwanted furniture and chandeliers and give them new life. Thanks to Craig almost anything is possible! Hope you enjoy some of my displays, I had a great time creating them. We only have one whole day to set up, so I feel really rushed to unload a 16ft box truck, and 12 large totes and make it look good enough for people to want to buy!

This is one of Craigs benches he welds up, this one is going to Japan! Craig said we need to get some small plates made up to go on his creations that say (Made in USA).Everything in this pic sold except the hospital tray!

Zinc top table, some more of Craigs handy work, one of the first things we sold. We sold 6 of 7 chandeliers.

Brimfield loves white crusty furniture, and by the way so do I!! (In case you didn't know!)

A few gold things, at this point I had sold so much I didn't have anything left to display on! I have to have tons of books for display, and no I don't sell them.

This cute wall cupboard and one board top table sold. I love those baby shoes, they have holes in the bottom where they've been worn so much!

Last but not least a wonderful pie safe that lost its legs to rot, got a new lift with a bottom made from old boards thanks to Craig. If it weren't for Craig I don't think I would have anything to sell.

Rumor has it!

I got some information in Brimfield that I know people will want to know about. Rumor has it, (from a very good source) that the old Lakewood in Atlanta may live again!!! Some investors are working with Green Space to rehab the buildings and clean up the lake! But investors need 500 names in the next 30 days for people who are interested in coming back to Lakewood as dealers. If you are interested please e-mail me with your name and phone number. Craig and I will be working with the investor to pass on this information. Keep your fingers crossed! We miss Lakewood so much!
