Double Wides Rock

Photo: High Desrt Diva

I came across a blog the other day called High Desert Diva. As I was wondering through her post I realized she lives in a Double Wide! You have to go check out the amazing before and after pictures in the sidebar of her blog, it's amazing!

Of course Double Wide peaked my interest right off the bat, since my Junk Palace is a double wide as well! I guess most people deem me as Trailer Park Trash! Do you think I care? HELL NO, I have exactly what I want and no mortgage! Best part is I can do anything in the world to this place and it only gets better! Oh, and Country Living loved it enough to put it in their magazine! Which I am very proud of! I know it's not nice to be proud, but I would have never dreamed I would be in a magazine. It was a once in a life time experience that I will never forget!

Oh Theresa...thanks for the feature!

I'm with you on the no mortgage glee!

All the 'after' pictures where taken by Philip Clayton-Thompson, and styled by Donna Pizzi of Blackstone Edge Studios. I met this marvelous couple in 2005 when they photographed our previous home, a cottage built in 1925, for Small Room Decorating magazine.

Cheers!

Listen Theresa, the story about your home/chateau, is my all-time favourite in Country Living magazine. You have a special vision. I love it! I go back to these pages regularly for inspiration (oh, like every month at least once) because your home is SO fabulous, and full of amazing ideas!

TOT-you could make an outhouse beautiful!!! I still have my copy of CL with your beautiful home in it. Maybe I'll bring it this time and get you to autograph it. I'm with you on the no mortgage. Casita Trash is just that. TINY, but it's paid for. What a great feeling. Tn'T

It just proves what a creative mind can accomplish...and both you girls got it!!! Besides a home is what you make it, a sanctuary amidst chaos...pride comes in many forms...mostly hard work and dedication.

You be proud all you want friend, I'd live in your double wide any day!!! But I am kinda attached to my lil' pink shack, of which I am very proud...it's the little things, right...

LUV ya girl...nut

Good for you! I think we should all be happy with our homes no matter where or what they are! We would love to live in one of the historic homes downtown but alas they are in the million dollar range. So we remade our little cottage (cookie cutter neighborhood) into the Victorian that we dream of. The great thing is that it is affordable and we don't have all the upkeep that you do with an old home. Thank you for reminding people that it's not where you live but how you live:)

Hey Theresa, I was recalling your fabulous home in CL and it seems to me you had a white slipcovered couch. I have slipcovered furniture and have been considering going white so I can change my accent colors at will. What fabric did you use? I have 2 dogs and 3 cats so I'm hesitant with white. Thanks Pam

I love love loved your double wide in Country Living and I wished I could make my black Lab white so I could have all that white, instead of these darker colors (tannish) that hide it better. Paid is better than owed these days. More people should learn that lesson and will learn that lesson the hard way, according to the news. So be proud you got it right! I still have a page with a chandelier/lamp /candelabra on my bulletin board to make someday- out of parts I have-but now, maybe this spring!

And I love the fact you can lock it up and go travel. If you live in a big fancy house, people think you have fancy stuff they can steal.

I also lived in a double-wide some years ago. And that place was fabulous. It really doesn't matter what kind of home you have as long as its clean and of coarse beautiful-no just kidding! But it would help...

Your transformation is just Grand!!
