When our power came back on Saturday night I was jumping up and down screaming in the kitchen, Craig came running in the kitchen with a wrench in his hand ready to hit something, he thought there was an animal in the house, or the house was on fire the way I was screaming!! He stood in one spot for a few minutes holding his heart cause he said I nearly scared him to death!!
The people at the end of our road just got their power back on today, 10 days without electric! Power company says counties surrounding us will be without power for another 2 weeks. We have never experienced power outages like this before.
The first 5 pics are of day ONE, the rest are of day number TWO! Every single tree in our yard suffered some kind of damage, it was unbelievable! I know people up North have much worse weather, but this is unusual for Kentucky!
I have so much catching up to do in bloggville, I don't know where to start! Thanks for all the kind words and warm wishes you all sent, I appreciate them all! I can't wait to visit you all on your blogs!
If you click on any of these pictures
you can actually see how thick the ice is!
can you see that the steel container is solid ICE!
when we home schooled!
I am sorry to see it go, it is completely split in half.

Well, welcome back - we sure missed you! So glad you're thawing out and hopefully things will get back to normal soon. Looking forward to seeing your latest decorating photos.
I would say it looks beautiful but after what you've been through I doubt you want me to say that, so...glad you're back. We missed you too!
I am so glad you are back up and running. You were truly missed. I'm also glad to see y'all survived all that ice. Although, don't you wish you could keep ice fringe on the trailer. It looks spectacular! Debbie
Wow! I've been in ice storms but never one that I had no electricity for days on end. So glad you are back with us. I'm sure you will be busy with clean up, but at least you are blogging again!! BTW, the photos are spectacular!

Yea! Such beautiful pictures of ice on some nice looking goodies! The trees are just amazing to behold. Wow. I'm glad you are warm and safe. I was thinking bout ya. ~Mindy

Ice storms are something else, aren't they?
So glad you're thawing out and have power again.
Best of luck with all the clean up!
Wow, hard to comment on how beautiful those pictures are when so many people have been suffering, but I guess it is a gift if we can see beauty in all that life throws at us no matter what it is! Glad to hear some people are getting back to "normal" we can only wish it for all that have been affected by these storms.
Theresa...WELCOME BACK! We're so glad to see you! Isn't amazing how much you miss the utilities when they are out? How many times did you reach for a light switch only to remember as your fingers are touching the switch...oh yeah...darn it. Hate that you're losing that beautiful tree! Wonder if you can cut some of the pine and preserve it as a keepsake?
Glad you're okay. Stay warm!
Welcome back! I'm glad that you have electricity and internet again! The pictures are amazing. How strange that everything can look beautiful like crystal but be so dangerous at the same time. It's nice to see you back online again!
Your photos are gorgeous of all of the icicles. However, I'm glad you were able to get your power back on after that long 5 day period. We finally purchased a generator, as we've lost power so many times, just for short periods like a day, that my husband decided it was worth it. Up in Minnesota the utilities are equipped for storms such as these, but they are never fun. I can't imagine what it would be like to get them down in Kentucky where it isn't supposed to happen. Thankfully, it sounds like you made it through ok and like us will never complain about the electric bills again. Ha! : ) That is what happened to us when we were without and our house was down to 46 with a 1 year old. I missed not seeing your blog, but had read from one of your friends that you were shut down due to the weather. Who would of that it was that bad! The landscape is forever changed, and I'm sorry for your loss in regards to that. The poor trees.
Your photos surely captured the beauty and an incredible amount of icicles you did have.
Take care and stay safe.
WELCOME HOME HONEY!!!!!!! FINALLY! I am so sorry to hear/see all the tree damage. That's sad, but leave it to you to make it look beautiful, those pictures are lovely. Glad to hear you are thawing out. Jackie
Glad to see you back. We got the snow and ice here in Cinci but you got the mother of all ice storms. We had several friends without power as well in Ky. So sad about all the tree damage. We had nothing like that here.
I'm so glad you have power again! I hate seeing the loss of trees when ice hits like that. The city still doesn't have tree branches cleaned up from our ice storm that hit before Christmas! I loved seeing your photos of the icicles though. ~Lori
Welcome back! Isn't it amazing how something so beautiful can be so destructive...
Take care~Debra
Welcome back..you were so missed. I'm glad you're ok..I hope you're thawed out and hopefully beginning the road back to normal. many many hugs ~lynne~
Welcome back! I'm sure like hundreds of others, I have checked your blog daily. What a terrible mess. We lost power after a terrible storm a couple of summers ago, only for 8 days and it was not fun. Right in the middle of summer. To look back it seems like a dream that didn't really happen. Just keep thinking- spring and Marburger Farm! It's just around the corner.

Wow! Amazing that something that looks so pretty can cause such damage. Loved the 'ice fringe'. Glad things will get back to normal soon. Stay warm.... Maggie
My goodness, what a storm! I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like to have to deal with that kind of weather, or to be without electricity for so many days. I'm real glad you are okay and that you're back.

Everyone is describing it like a war zone! I think 5 days without power is awful...we had only 4 hours. The pictures are haunting and beautiful at the same time.
OOOO! Pretty but nasty. Glad to have you back!

Unfortunatly, you haven't seen the last of it. As the summer winds start to blow, the limbs that have died and not fallen, will start to blow down. We had the same thing at Sisters'...still pickin up branches, but purdy pictures though on white furniture...glad your back girl!!!

Hi sweetie! I know exactly how you felt without power for so long! I live in Houston, TX and when Hurricane Ike hit...we were without power for over 7 days in unbelievable heat...no food, no water, no gas, etc...
My heart goes out to you and all those in your state! I cannot imagine how you kept warm (okay maybe I can a little bit...but, won't go there. :)...hey ya got to try and have some humor to keep from crying! :)
Glad to hear that you are all okay and have your lovely power back!
thanks for visiting me and I look forward to getting to know you!
xo...deb (the junkin' yaya)
So glad your back! The pictures are devastating to say the least! The trees are always the biggest tragedy in an ice storm. It make you just sick to see all the downed branches.
We had a storm last year that took the power out for a week. tHE WEATHER IS GETTING WIERDER AND WIERDER.
Hi Theresa,
So good to have you back on line.
Have missed your post, pictures and inspiration. Coming back our way anytime for shows?
Thanks for saying "hey" on my new blog.

Glad to have you back! That tree damage is so sad- we had that here in Iowa last year. No fun at all.
Anita

Glad to have you back!!
Isabel
Found you while blog surfing! Love it! So glad that things are thawing in your neck of the woods! I have never seen icicles like that!
Nicole
Winter never looked more beautiful!! Your blog is lovely!!
SO glad you are all right and up and running with juice again! Sorry about all the trees...looks like you are going to have a little chain saw duty when the weather gets better. Oh and you need to keep some of that ice fringe in the freezer till summer...you might be able to sell it on ebay!
Blessings!
Patti
Wow. We had an ice storm in the mid 90's and it was bad, but not as bad as what you had. Glad you are back and safe.
Glenda
Too bad a beauty one cannot really enjoy. We always seem so excited when it gets icy or snows-maybe because we dont get that much. This type of excitement we dont need. Glad your back on....Tiina...
Wow! I never get to see snow or ice anymore. Love your pics!
